Review: Night Marchers by Rebecca Gober and Courtney Nuckels

Review: Night Marchers by Rebecca Gober and Courtney Nuckels Review: Night Marchers by Rebecca Gober and Courtney Nuckels Emma has been uprooted from her Texas home to follow her father (a paranormal investigator) to Hawaii. While there she meets two young men who catch her interest. The only problem is that one has been alive for hundreds of years and now is trapped. This story was a bit slow off the bat, but it was enough to keep me interested and reading. It switched a bit from past to present as the author recalled events that lead to where the story started off. This was a bit distracting, but filled in the back story. I would have rather had less back...

Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth Tris finds herself living a new life after she chooses to initiate into a different faction of the five factions that now populate Chicago. Little does she know, she has made a very dangerous decision because, unlike everyone else, she is a divergent. Knowing she cannot share that info or even knowing what it means, Tris must find a way to fit in and make it past initiation to stay with the faction she has now chosen to pledge her life to. This dystopic society left you feeling like each fit into a stereotype, yet Tris was there trying to break free from it. The...

Interview with Chrystalla Thoma, author of Rex Rising

Interview with Chrystalla Thoma, author of Rex Rising A week and a half ago I reviewed Rex Rising by Chrystalla Thoma and as a follow up here is a short interview with her that she kindly did with me. If you want to know more about Chrystalla or her books, visit her website at http://chrystallathoma.wordpress.com/ You are not a biologist but this book is heavily influenced by biology. Were you into science in school? Chrys: *laughs quietly* Actually, that was my least favorite subject at school. I was into languages, ancient Greek and Latin, and literature. But after I finished school and started reading science books for the lay public, I realized I...

Review: Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa

Review: Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa Review: Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa  A new adventure leads us to follow Ash. Ash wishes to be with Meghan and is willing to do anything to get that wish- including becoming mortal. He must face various tests to end up with a soul, but his love for Meghan continues to bring him forward on each part of his quest. Ash is looking for a soul so that he can survive in the iron realm. I found her method of tests and the various things the represented to be interesting. The author showed the reader what makes humans human and different from the fey that Ash was. The story was suppose to end with the third...

Review : Rex Rising by Chrystalla Thoma

Review : Rex Rising by Chrystalla Thoma Review : Rex Rising by Chrystalla Thoma  Elei is running away and being tracked at every moment. Unfortunately, he has also been shot. Even more unfortunate, the two parasites that coexist in him are fighting for control. Elei must look to complete strangers to help him. Action is the best word to describe this book. From the opening chapter where the protagonist is on the run with a bullet hole in him, the action does not stop. He continues on through the whole book- almost forcefully pushing the action forward. It is a quick read as you feel like you are just keeping up with him as he continues to...
