Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Tris and Four (now going by Tobias) are left on the run trying to find out what the secret is that caused the two factions to attack the other faction. They know that her former faction was not destroyed just to take over the other groups but for some piece of information. The only questions are:  can Tris find the information before the factionless destroy everything and will Tobias trust her and her gut feeling.

I would have to say, this book felt a bit slower in pace than the first book. But how could it not be? Divergent was action from start to finish. In this book the main plot was to get the info that seems to be hiding. It was a hide and seek game. Survival in the first book was a much stronger driving force.

This story picked up where the first story stopped. Now in the publishing business you have to normally wait one year before a sequel comes. This is a bit hard with a book like this where book two literally starts where book one ended. As a reader you spend a bit of time trying to get back into the book. Again, this book ended in a cliff hanger. I’ll be reading the next one; I just don’t like this tactic.

I didn’t like it as much as the first, but it was good nonetheless.

Agreed, I liked the first more, the middle section of this one felt much slower. Also Tris was less appealing/attractive to me as a character, but the ending really picked things up. With all that said, like you I thought this was a really good book.
