11/29 Latest Reads: Origin by Jennifer Armentrout and Alliegent by Veronica Roth

The week of the sequel… I don’t do this on purpose, but something always links the books together that I read. This week I read two books that actually are the fourth and the third in two different series. I think you have a different mentality going into a book if you read another already. You already know some if not all of the main players and you already know the writing style. I really think it leads to a different reading experience.

Origin by Jennifer Armentrout

Jumping back into the story of Katy and Daemon- and I gladly jump back in. It is action all the way. Katy is caught and Daemon plans to get her out. We just have to wait and see how. And then there are those weird alien hybrids called origins- what are they all about. Guess you’ll have to get a copy and find out. I will add, this is not it for the tale about Katy and her aliens as we are left on a cliff hanger….. It was as good as the rest, and I am looking forward to see what happens next. Great writing as always!

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

So the third book of the divergent series made it out. I will say I am a big fan of the first two books, and I didn’t feel this one disappointed as much as the amazon reviews would lead you to believe. I did find myself having trouble getting into the book at the beginning and felt a little like I had two personalities as the chapters switched so often, but I had trouble getting into the first book also, so that didn’t deter me. I didn’t have a problem with Tris story ending the way it did- I don’t need a HEA, but I just found it odd to end that way. I didn’t see the reasoning behind it. Had the gas poisoned her, I might have not thought once about it, but to get past the gas and then meet up with David just seemed weird. I think that might be where the uproar came from- Tris could have had the HEA and still sacrificed herself to save her brother. Either way, I still thought it was a nice ending. Probably not my favorite of the series but a fun ready anyways, and I can’t wait to see the movie.
